Carpets are made of various materials namely: nylon, polypropolene, polyester, acrylic and wool. Nylon is sturdy, easily cleaned and scuff resistant. They are also stain resistant to protect against spills. Olefin or what is popularly known as polypropolene, resists stains and mildew better than other fibers and is cost efficient. But it flattens easily, is rough to touch and does not look luxurious. Polyester on the other hand feels rich, luxurious and the most stain-resistant of them all. However, it is a soft fiber that tends to tangle and squeeze easily out of shape. Acrylic looks and feels like, but is cheaper than wool. It has a low static level and stands up well to sunlight but attracts oily stains. Wool is the most expensive and a splendid carpet. It is easy to clean but is only moderately resistant to stain.
